AIHW REPORT: NEW NATIONAL STATISTICAL REPORT SHEDS LIGHT ON FAMILY VIOLENCE
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) has released its first comprehensive report on family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia. The report brings together, for the first time, information from more than 20 different major data sources to build a picture of what is known about family, domestic and sexual violence in Australia. It also highlights data gaps and offers suggestions to help fill these gaps.

AUSTRALIA'S TOP 100 GOLF COURSES - INCLUDES STATE-BY-STATE LEADERS
Royal Melbourne Golf Club’s West Course remains Australia’s premier golf course after this week’s release of Australian Golf Digest’s Top 100 Courses rankings. ‘RM’ faced pressure from perennial Sandbelt rival Kingston Heath and newcomer Cape Wickham. The other talking point from the 2018/’19 list is the quartet of Tasmanian courses now occupying places in the top-10.



LIFELINE SCHOLARSHIP TO RECRUIT MALE CRISIS SUPPORTERS
Lifeline Australia and Gotcha4Life have launched an inaugural scholarship to encourage men around the country to become Telephone Crisis Supporters for the national charity’s 13 11 14 crisis line.  Lifeline Australia CEO Bob Gilkes said the support from Gotcha4Life – a men’s mental health initiative led by TV and radio personality Gus Worland – will pay for 20 men to undertake the lifesaving training each year.

Celebrity PR Blitz Fails to Shift Opinion
A new poll shows the majority of Australians support an Australian republic, while support for the monarchy has fallen to its lowest recorded level. Just 22 per cent of respondents disagree that Australia should be a republic with an Australian as head of state. 52 per cent agree that Australia should be a republic. The poll also shows Australians know the difference between celebrity news and an independent constitution.



THE WINNER OF THE 2018 WHEELS CAR OF THE YEAR … IS A VOLVO 
The world is changing, and fast.  Not only have we recently farewelled local car manufacturing in Australia, but our perceptions continue to be challenged on a near daily basis.  Now comes news that our most prestigious motoring award has been won by the much maligned marque Volvo, with two other oft-derided Europeans in close pursuit.  Our jokes are seriously out of date.
