AUSSIE MAN RISKING 10 YEARS JAIL TO TRY TO SAVE ‘THE KINGSWOOD’ AS OUR DIPLOMATS REFUSE TO HELP
Australian officials have refused to intervene in the case of an Australian man who is facing a potential 10 years in jail, should he dare to challenge French customs agents who have mistaken his ‘barn find’ Kingswood as a drug transporter.  The French claim the vehicle has ‘hiding places’ – but what they’re looking at is part of standard design on the Aussie classic.

SYNTHETIC LIFE – THE RADICAL RESHAPING OF OUR WORLD
To its opponents it is a frightening concept of humans messing with the laws of nature, bringing unforeseen consequences.  To its proponents, developing synthetic life is the answer to many of the problems we’ve already created.  It’s the fix.  From pollution-free fuels that can be harvested from vats of yeast, to viruses being programmed to be cancer killers, synthetic life is a game-changer for all of us.

LOVING RATS & MICE - A NATIONAL CHALLENGE
Australians love their marsupials.  Our kangaroos and koalas.  Our wombats and quokkas, to name just a few.  But now we’re being challenged to extend the love to our remarkable native rodents.  That’s right, rats and mice.  (Some of them used to be the height of fashion.)

COST OF ROYAL VISIT KEEPS RISING
The cost of flying the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall to and from Australia is extraordinary.  After a few days the price tag for airfares alone is already over $75 000 and rising fast.  This is ridiculously expensive.  It is more than five times the cost of luxury flights from Singapore to Brisbane for the couple – in first class, on British Airways – and the Prince still has a return trip planned to the Republic of Vanuatu, travel across Queensland and the Northern Territory, and perhaps a return to Singapore.
