AUSTRALIA’S FORGOTTEN FEMALE ‘COMPUTERS’ WHO MAPPED THE STARS – FROM THE HORSE & CART TO THE MOON MISSIONS
They were paid close to half of their male co-workers, were forced to resign when they married, and their epic seven-decades-long project has been largely forgotten … until now.   They were Australia’s female ‘computers’ and, between them, they mapped the stars of the Southern Hemisphere.  Their work continues to influence science projects today.
 

SAVING THE KOALA – WHAT HAPPENS NEXT - THE CAMPAIGN TO RESCUE A NATIONAL ICON FROM THE BRINK
The devastating bushfires gave rise to many powerful images and emotions, including an outpouring of support from around the world.  Much of that came in the form of heartfelt donations, with the fate of our iconic koala a key motivator.  Now the real battle is underway to create a viable future for this much loved marsupial.
 



AUSTRALIA’S UNSUNG REEF - AND THE BATTLE TO SAVE IT
The world is well aware of the threats to the Great Barrier Reef, but Australia has another monster reef facing a battle for survival.   The kelp-dominated Great Southern Reef wraps all the way from Brisbane, down and around Tasmania, and across to Western Australia.  In some places its mighty giant kelp forests have all but disappeared – but scientists are attempting to fight back with ‘super kelp’.  There is early hope.

Regarded by some as the most important motor vehicle in Australia, and to others a national cultural icon, the original Mad Max ‘Interceptor’ has come onto the market and an online petition lobbying the government to get involved has already attracted thousands of supporters.
