THE MENTAL HEALTH APP BOOM – CAN YOUR PHONE BE TRUSTED?
Thankfully we now talk about mental health in a similar way to how we discuss physical health, but there remains a significant issue for many people accessing the help they need. One-on-one resources are stretched and sometimes non-existent. This has led to a boom in smartphone apps claiming to provide mental health (or in some cases 'wellbeing”) advice and support. In fact, it is estimated that there are now a staggering 10,000 apps of this type available.
